After a couple of ‘trial’ runs, we’ve been away for our first weekend. The trial runs were hysterical, to say the least. Steve practised putting up the awning and oh dear! who knew he was fluent in Anglo Saxon? The second trial run saw Steve using an awning spray so the awning slid along the runner. Game changer!!!
We’ve had a leak which was sorted this weekend by tightening the jubilee clip. We’ve had electrics that didn’t work as there was a loose wire but all in all, everything is now fine and dandy.
This weekend, we went to Otley in West Yorkshire. It’s now classed as a suburb of Leeds but it’s such a pretty town. Famous son of Otley is the original chippendale. No, not the baby oil and six pack type but the real Chippendale, Thomas Chippendale cabinet maker to the gentry. Otley is a market town and bridging point on the River Wharf and the Wharfdale valley is beautiful for walking. Chevin Country Park is located just outside Otley, with many forest walks and climbing at Chevin Rocks.
We had a lovely meal at the White Hart pub at the bottom of Pool Bank. Food and service was good but then we had to go back up Pool Bank to the 5 van CL site (certified location with the Caravan and Motorhome group).
We’ve many more planned weekend breaks, so this is the first blog of hopefully many informative blogs about where Rubys Rovings take her.
‘Bye for now.
